What to expect when you visit Ellis Orthodontics
Your First Visit with Dr. Ellis
Your first visit to our orthodontic office is an exciting time! It's a chance for us to get acquainted, and for you to learn about the treatments and services available at Ellis Orthodontics. We understand that some patients are more nervous than excited about their first trip to the orthodontist. You have our promise that your visit will be comfortable and informative; we will do our best to make it fun, too!
Expect your first visit to last about 45 minutes. After checking in and filling out any needed paperwork, you will meet our new patient coordinator. Your new patient coordinator will assist Dr. Ellis during your examination and then help guide you through the orthodontic process and answer any additional questions you may have. At the completion of your first visit, you will leave the answer to a number of questions.
- Can orthodontic treatment benefit me (or my child)?
- What general procedures will be used to correct the problem?
- Are any options available (or recommended) for my treatment?
- Should I get treatment now, or is it better to wait?
- How much does treatment cost? Are payment plans available?
- How long do you expect treatment should take?
The best part is that your first visit is free!
If I'm Ready, What Comes Next?
If Dr. Ellis has recommended orthodontic treatment, orthodontic records will need to be obtained in our office prior to starting orthodontic treatment. Records can often be taken during your first visit. Orthodontic records include impressions of your teeth, x-rays and photos. These enable Dr. Ellis to fully evaluate your orthodontic needs and to ensure that your treatment plan thoroughly addresses all of your orthodontic problems.
Treatment Plan Consultation
Dr. Ellis values the importance of developing the appropriate treatment plan for each patient prior to starting orthodontic treatment. While the new patient visit is designed to provide information and an outline of orthodontic care, the Treatment Plan Consultation is the visit where you will recieve the details of your individual orthodontic treatment plan.
Orthodontic treatment results in a permanent change to the position, function and health of your teeth. To ensure that your final orthodontic result is successful and one that you will value for years to come, Dr. Ellis carefully evaluates each patient's individual orthodontic needs with both a clinical exam and orthodontic records prior to beginning orthodontic treatment. When you return to Ellis Orthodontics for your Treatment Plan Consultation, you can have confidence that Dr. Ellis has carefully considered all treatment options and has recommended a treatment plan that she believes will provide you with the best orthodontic result.
Orthodontic Treatment Begins!
If I'm Not Ready, When Do I Come Back?
If Dr. Ellis does not recommend starting orthodontic treatment at this time but believes that future orthodontic treatment will be needed, a follow up visit will be scheduled. Should Dr. Ellis find that no orthodontic treatment is recommended at this time, nor does she believe future orthodontic treatment will be needed, no follow up visits will be scheduled, however your patient information will be maintained at Ellis Orthodontics in the event that your dental condition changes in the future.
