You've got options - Types of Orthodontic Appliances
Self ligating (Damon) Metal Braces — Dr. Ellis uses the industry leading Damon self ligating brackets by Ormco to achieve efficient, safe and comfortable orthodontic movement.
Clear Braces — Pre-coated, flash-free Clarity braces by Unitek are beautifully small and clear yet strong and durable. They are an excellent option for patients wanting orthodontic treatment without metal braces. Most adult patients can wear clear upper and lower braces, however there are some cases where clear braces are not recommended.
Invisalign - Some patients can improve the appearance of their teeth with clear, removable aligner trays. Several companies manufacture aligner systems. Presently, Dr. Ellis uses Invisalign for moderate orthodontic problems and Invisalign 10 for more limited alignment problems. As an alternative to the fixed type of orthodontic appliances, clear aligners are removable. They are a series of clear plastic “trays” that fit over your teeth and move them a little bit at a time until they are in the proper position. Your trays are designed with the help of specialized computer software that generates a virtual model of your bite. Aligners work best for patients with mild to moderate bite problems. Dr. Ellis will let you know if you are a candidate for aligner treatment.
