Meet your orthodontist
Dr. Ellis is a dedicated orthodontist, engaged neighbor and busy mom. After 20 years of providing exceptional orthodontic care to her patients at Children’s Medical Center of Dallas, University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, and in Altamonte Springs, Florida, Dr. Ellis is thrilled to open Ellis Orthodontics, where she looks forward to continuing the pursuit of orthodontic excellence in the location closest to her heart - her neighborhood.
Education and Orthodontic training
Dr. Ellis is a second generation orthodontist. Her father, Dr. Brad Porter, is an orthodontist in Longwood, Florida, where Dr. Ellis grew up. Dr. Ellis moved to Dallas in 1985 to attend college at Southern Methodist University. Following graduation, Dr. Ellis attended Baylor College of Dentistry where she received her doctor of dental surgery (DDS) degree. Immediately after dental school, Dr. Ellis completed a two year orthodontic residency at St. Louis University in St. Louis, Missouri, where she received both her Masters of Science in Dentistry (MSD) and her certificate in orthodontics.
Through compassionate patient care, patient advocacy and an active University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center faculty appointment, Dr. Ellis demonstrates a deep commitment to preserving the integrity of the dental profession. Her professional experience includes helping children and adults of all ages and socioeconomic levels receive excellent quality orthodontic care. In addition to routine orthodontic treatment, Dr. Ellis has extensive experience providing care to patients with special needs, craniofacial anomalies like cleft lip and palate, and patients with severe malocclusions requiring surgical correction. Dr. Ellis is an active member of the Dallas County Dental Society where she currently serves on the Board of Directors. She volunteers on a variety of councils, work groups and committees with both the American Association of Orthodontists and the American Dental Association. She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics. Dr. Ellis has provided expert witness and advisory service to a number of legal offices and state agencies as well as testimony to the US Congress on the topic of dental Medicaid fraud, patient harm and taxpayer protection.
Away from the office
Dr. Ellis lives in the Lakewood neighborhood of Dallas with her husband Brooks and two children, Ford and Caroline. When she is not practicing orthodontics, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, reading, riding her bike at White Rock Lake, and attending her children’s Little League baseball games and swim meets.
